There are many "how to" books about training teachers of English. What seems to be missing, however, is material you can use to plan training sessions and even take into the seminar room and use directly. A lot of teachers find themselves in situations where, with little experience, they are faced with having to run training sessions for teachers of English and there is not much material around that will help them do a worthwhile job.
Please take a look at
http://www.teflalacarte.co.uk where I have posted some directly usable materials for basic, in-service TEFL training sessions. The materials:
- can be freely downloaded, used or adapted as long as their source is acknowledged;
- include session plans, handouts and detailed trainer's commentaries;
- are personal and opiniated, but at least give participants something to talk about;
- involve the participants in discussion, trying things out and materials development workshops;
- emphasise communication and interaction;
- do not rely on audio or visual aids or computers.
All feedback very welcome.
